I grew up collecting sports cards and as much as I loved what companies like Topps, Score, Fleer and Upper Deck were doing, I often found myself wanting something different. Usually it was just the fact that some of my favorite players didn’t have cards. Other times I wanted a different looking design. I tried as a kid to make my own cards in a variety of ways. Drawing my own, cutting out photos from newspapers and magazines and pasting them onto cardboard, but they obviously didn’t look like the real deal. So when I started learning Photoshop many years later, I found I could finally make some realistic looking cards to add to my collection. With extra downtime lately due to COVID, I’ve had a chance to improve my design skills and decided to put together this blog to showcase some of the designs I come up with. One of the first sets I decided to make was the 1988 Packers squad, with an 18-card set, using a style that looks like the ’88 Score Baseball set.
The players I included in this set were: Paul Ott Carruth, Chuck Cecil, Kenneth Davis, Phil Epps, Brent Fullwood, Tiger Greene, Tim Harris, Johnny Holland, Lindy Infante, Mark Lee, Don Majkowski, Mark Murphy, Shawn Patterson, Sterling Sharpe, Walter Stanley, Keith Uecker, Blaise Winter, Keith Woodside and Randy Wright
